After I Became Chongzhen

In examining history, we find that during his reign, Chongzhen indeed exemplified diligence, working tirelessly day and night. His qualities were among the most exceptional of the emperors of the Ming Dynasty. Compared to his grandfather, who did not attend court for over twenty years and rarely met with his ministers, and his brother, who indulged in wine and women and was incapable of governing yet excelled in woodworking, Chongzhen's dedication could almost be regarded as exemplary among emperors. However, this young talent, who aspired to revive the empire and acted upon that hope, found that his efforts, diligence, persistence, and dreams did not lead to the revival of the empire but rather to its downfall. Ultimately, on a cold spring night, he would find himself in a desperate situation, resorting to the tragic act of killing his wife and children before taking his own life.
